For aroud 15 years, the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the Lower Rhine region of Germany has provided an innovative, interdisciplinary and international education to young minds from around the world. We offer a total of 37 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in four multidisciplinary faculties: Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences, Society and Economics, and Communication and Environment. We are currently seeking a qualified expert to support these goals in the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort in the following capacity:

Professorship of Digital Transformation and Optimisation in Mobility and Logistics

Salary grade "W2" according to LBesG NRW | Reference Number 04/F4/24

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Teaching in the Mobility and Logistics degree program and in other programs at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The focus is on quantitative methods for modeling and optimisation in the areas of production, transport and information logistics.
    • Doing research in the application-related topics and technology transfer in cooperation with regional businesses, public authorities and other research institutes and Universities.
    • lnterdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of information technologies, operations research, transport logistics and international business administration.
    • Teaching basic courses as weil as elective courses in reated subjects in English and German language, including teaching in the evenings and at weekends.
    • Active participation in the self-administration and the further development of the University.

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master degree in Logistics, Computer Sciences, Mathematics or an Engineering subject and a pertinent PhD
    • Professional Experience in logistics planning and / or process optimization in a production, trading or transportation company
    • Research competence, proven through a relevant ph.D. degree as well as through the execution of research projects and through (peer-reviewed) publications and conference contributions
    • Organizational skills, creativity and the ability for interdisciplinary cooperation in teaching, research and knowledge transfer
    • Gender and diversity competence, particularly with regard to dealing with students from different cultural and educational backgrounds
    • Very good command of German and English language at least at level C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages

General requirements for the appointment of new professors are derived from § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW). The following qualifications are therefore mandatory for all applicants to this position:

  • A PhD in hand from a research university in a relevant field
  • Excellent academic and research skills, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation
  • At least five years of relevant career experience in the applied use or development of research findings and methodology; at least three of these years must have been outside of higher education
