Research Associate in Sociology

German TV-L pay scale level EG11, fixed-term contract for 2 years according to § 14 Abs.2 (TzBfG), full-time

Your tasks

  • Support in the compilation of teaching materials in the field of sociology, especially in instructural courses with emphasis on Gender, Inclusion, and Diversity subjects
  • Participation in internships, exercises and supervision of projects and final theses in the study course Gender and Diversity
  • Active co-operation in national and international research projects
  • Taking over relevant administrative activities in the study course Gender and Diversity

Your profile

  • You have a bachelor or equivalent degree in sociology or a related field of study
  • Solid scientifical knowledge is required in the area of gender studies/research on gender/gender relations and on other diversity dimensions such as ethnicity, migration experience or background, religion and belief, disability, age or sexual orientation
  • You are knowledgable in qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research
  • Practical knowledge in the following or similar professions are adventageous: Equality work, integration and participation of immigrants, working with people with disabilities, child and adult education, Diversity Management, policy advice, public relations in the area of equality and diversity
  • You can work independently and are able to adapt to a challenging environment and consequently to changing requirements
  • You have a strong team spirit
  • You master the German language at level B1 and master the English language at an excellent level (B2)

Non-native German speakers must have at least basic proficiency in German.

Part-time employment is also possible for this position.

The work contract is limited in accordance with § 14 (2) Teilzeit- und Befristungsgesetz (TzBfG). Therefore it is required that the applicant has not been employed at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the past.
