Post-doc / Research Associate for the analysis of technology transfer and advisory work in bamboo value chains in Vietnam

German TV-L pay scale level EG 13, (initially) fixed-term contract for 3 years according to § 2 Abs.2 (WissZeitVG), part-time with 50 % of the average weekly hours of the full-time equivalent (subject to project approval)

Your tasks

  • Design and conduct empirical research in Vietnam with the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies
  • Develop locally adapted tools and methods for rural advisory work aiming to promote bamboo cultivation and processing in Vietnam in close cooperation with Vietnamese partners
  • Publish research results in renowned international journals and present them at workshops and conferences
  • Supervise students' theses on project topics
  • Support the acquisition of third-party funds

Your profile

  • Above-average master degree in agricultural economics, rural sociology, natural resource management or related disciplines with socio-economic orientation
  • A pertinent PhD/doctoral degree will be of advantage
  • Well-founded experience with the application of methods of qualitative and quantitative empirical social research as well as the mixed-methods approach
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with methods of inferential and business statistics
  • Experience in conducting research projects and the preparation and publication of scientific studies
  • Strong motivation to conduct and publish high-quality research
  • First proven experience in publishing your own scientific results are of advantage
  • High degree of independence, responsibility and team spirit and the desire to work in an international environment
  • Willingness to conduct several months of fieldwork in Vietnam
  • Excellent English skills (level C1, oral and written)
  • Work and/or research experience in a developing country are of advantage
  • Work experience in rural advisory/agricultural extension work is of advantage
